Ulexite was born under the dome in Heritage Found to a family that had found their footing in the ceruleum trade, and quickly found themselves wanting once their home fused with Alexandria. Leveraging their knowledge of engineering, they found a place in Alexandrian society and raised their daughter as part of it.Ulexite became an Arcadion fighter at 18 using the soul of night pegasus and the stage name Dark Horse. She fought less often due to also helping as stage crew, slowing the onset of psychonekrosis. Ulexite swept through Light-Heavyweight and to the top of Cruiserweight quickly, a fan favorite due to her charisma and excellent crowd work. Her personality in the ring gained her a cult following, and a spot as one of the president's personal favorites - not that the audience was privy to most of her matches being scripted. As long as the people were happy, she was happy. Some fans assert that Ulexite is the origin of calling an up-and-coming fighter a Dark Horse, carrying on her legacy even after she retired.At age 21, she suffered a near-fatal spinal injury during a televised match. Her regulator didn't revive her, or repair the injury fully. Despite the availability of medical staff, the incident left her disabled - permanently. Push too hard, and she'd cause herself considerable pain and difficulty.[MINOR 7.4 SPOILERS] Forced to retire early, but given the president's care for the fighters in his ring, Ulexite was offered something not unlike workers' comp: a monthly payout replacing her previous income. Most days, her time is spent attending physical therapy. She wears an electrope augmented back brace and leg braces to continue pursuing her passions. Manual labor and physical work have always been what she knows best, and it's hard to move on.She works mostly as a handyman now, helping where she's needed and building a support network by assisting neighbors with home and appliance repair, but her personal passion is working on others' vehicles. She spends most days helping out around her friends' auto shop, picking up small jobs from them and bothering them in her spare time. Her biggest achievement is her signature move, "High Horsepower", being the origin of referring to a vehicle's engine capacity in terms of horsepower, after fans compared their cars to how hard she could hit.Ulexite still works with the Arcadion from time to time. She makes guest appearances as a co-commentator, coaches the new generation of fighters, appears on streams, and does product promotions.

As you can tell by now, Ulexite is a Soluton 9 alt. She's a little bit of a self indulgent character and asks other writers for a fair amount of "yes, and"-ing. If you don't want to, no problem! I don't mind if Ulexite's bits and bobs mostly go unacknowledged or aren't engaged with. She's more of a for-fun character, in my mind.↪ OO2. "No politics" is Weenie Hut Jr. shit.

If you want to engage uncritically, far be it from me to stop you, but I will say that any conversations about her characterization and story will involve the fact that she is visibly black, disabled, and queer. Because her character struggles address mental health and systemic barriers specifically, there's a very real risk of portraying these identities in a pretty shitty way and alienating black, disabled, and queer writers in our shared spaces.It would be pretty easy to write Ulexite as "emotional and strong black lady #28947", but I'm not here to do that shit, and I'm not interested in long term writing with people who will put her in that box, either.In case it's not explicitly clear: ACAB, free Palestine, Land Back, and punch Nazis. ⁺✦.♡⁺.⁺✦.♡⁺↪ OO3. Overall, while I think that the concept of "lore strictness" is much more nebulous than people think, I adhere to the Stray & Venues Style Guide. I write Ulexite by really looking at the ground-level connective tissue between major character moments, and like to address the smaller, closer-to-home hurdles.↪ OO5. Just don't be weird man.
Pretty much every conflict ever can be resolved by opening up a DM and talking things out with the other person. If I have an issue, I'm going to say it (and moreover, I can be expected to say it, because that's a basic courtesy). If you have an issue with me and you haven't told me also, I'm going to assume you don't have any issues, and I'm going to conduct myself under that assumption too.If you think I know something or think something, I probably don't.
